The Power Of Prayer (and oils)

I just HAD to share my experience from last night.

It was so powerful for me.

A little background:

My family has caught a virus this week. It is going through my children's preschool (where I also work) VERY quickly. I have other friends that have it too. Both my girls have had fevers and lots and lots of mucous and sore throats.

My sweet little 10 month old does NOT sleep. Ever. She does not nap more than 30 minutes during the day. She does not sleep more than 2 hours at night. She has not slept more than an hour and a half at night in weeks. She has stayed up an average of 2 or 3 hours during the night for weeks on top of all that. If you can imagine I am one tired momma.

Back to last night:

With my baby being very sick I knew I was in for a tough night again. It makes me so sad because I know she needs rest so her body can heal. I have been using Thieves, Eucalyptus Globulus, RC, and Lemon on both girls like crazy. I can tell that the virus is trying to cause a bacterial infection but we seem to be holding it off with use of these germ fighting oils. I put her to sleep about 10:00. She was up by midnight. Nothing new. If anything that was a good stretch of sleep for her. But after that she could NOT go back to sleep from coughing and mucous.

I decided to put more oils on her. The same ones I had been using. I suctioned her. Then I spent the next 2 hours comforting her with my hands on her in prayer. I begged God to give her rest. I begged him to use these oils that HE created to heal my baby. I fully believed that He could and WOULD do this. I mean, He healed my dad of the worst possible type of cancer. So this should be no big deal. God has the power to heal. I believe He does heal everyday. Again these prayers went on for 2 hours as I cuddled and comforted my baby.

Then the most amazing thing happened. Her nose cleared up. She was able to breathe! She feel asleep so hard. Then she slept for FOUR hours. FOUR. That has not happened in many months. She woke up for milk, went back to sleep 10 minutes later and slept another THREE hours!! I knew that God had heard my prayers. He listened to the cries of a tired mother in the night. He used His creation to let my daughter rest.

For me it was a miracle.

What I learned was to use your oils with intent. With prayer. Just how when David asked the Lord to cleanse him with Hyssop in the Bible. Can I get a Hallelujah?!

Until next time ...

New Job!

Last week we were so blessed with my husband starting a new job! He is so excited about it and I am so excited for him. He will be working nights.

The big night came for his first shift. I could tell he was anxious and excited and nervous all rolled into one. Starting a new job is like walking blind into the unknown. I gently suggested some oils.

I had him layer a few things. He started with Valor. I thought that would help with any anxiety for this new situation. Then he went with Thieves since he will be working in a hospital. We topped it off with some Egyptian Gold just to add more immunity boost.

I could tell he was confident and ready! He did have a great first night by the way.

We always start with Valor going into anything that could make us nervous. And when I am layering oils I start with Valor too. Love it!

What situations has Valor helped you in?

Until next time ...

Thieves Spray

You may have heard of the Thieves blend. It is a great oil for keeping the germs away! Well, Young Living makes a Thieves spray.

I have fallen in love with this little spray! I use it for several different things. When I am out to eat, I spray it on the restaurant table before I put my baby's food down to sanitize it. You can spray any surface that needs to be cleaned! If I ever feel like I have a sore throat I will spray it in my mouth to kill anything that may be trying to start up. Also if I am out and notice I have been around sick people I will do a mouth spray for an additional little boost of protection. Before we eat out I also will spray our hands with it to sanitize. I have been more than happy to replace the other hand sanitizer I was using from Bath and Body Works. You can see the list of ingredients it has here. Looks harmless, right? Did you know that ingredients to make fragrance are not required to be listed? Read about how it is one of the biggest causes of contact dermatitis here and how those ingredients get a free pass under our laws.

And my fragrance rant is over. So the best part about Thieves spray for me is that when I run out, I use this same bottle and make more! I put 20 drops of Thieves oil and fill the rest with straight vodka. Voila!

Until next time ...

Coughing Baby?

My 5 month old is having to build one strong immune system! I work at my older daughter's preschool, and my baby is there with me also. She is exposed to many more germs than I would like. But, we are fighting back! We use Thieves blend on her feet to help prevent illness, and she is still exclusively breast fed which helps too. Sometimes we just can't avoid the common cold and she has had one for over a week now. She has started doing this thing where she is fine until it's time for sleep and as soon as she is drifting off she goes into uncontrollable coughing fits. Sometimes she gags and throws up because it gets so bad.

On Friday, she had not napped the whole day except for 30 minutes around noon. Every other time we tried a nap she would wake from coughing. Then it hit me ... oils! So that evening I got out the R.C. blend and rubbed it on her chest and feet. I layered that with the Peace and Calming blend. Then in my diffuser I put 10 drops of Eucalyptus Globulus and place it next to the bed.

After that, for the rest of the entire night she only coughed 2 times! What a blessing! I love getting to use the natural things that God created to make my girls feel better.

Until next time ...
